S-Video and VGA

The S-Video output option on your video card can be very handy. You can use an S-Video to RCA (three cables on the front of TVs) cable to connect your PC to your TV for a larger viewing area.

This may be done because old TVs, and even some newer ones, do not have the option for a VGA connection.

VGA is the blue 15-pin cable that comes with monitors and hooks up on the video card with the corresponding blue connection. If you connect a VGA cable from your monitor to a VGA connection on your TV, the quality will be great.

Keep in mind, if you are wanting to use a TV as your monitor and use the S-Video cable, the resolution may be compromised. This all depends on your TV and computer's video card settings and capabilities. The resolution will be set at whatever the lowest one is - be it your video card or TV. So if you have a very good TV and a really nice, fast refresh monitor, the picture will be great.
