Improve Windows XP Shutdown Speed

Windows XP seems to take a long time to shutdown. There are a couple tweaks that will improve this speed. This is how to make your computer, running Windows XP, shutdown faster.

What this does is reduces the time XP waits before automatically closing any running programs when you give it the command to shutdown.

1. Go to Start>Run
Type:

Regedit

then click "OK"
2. Find "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\"
3. Select "WaitToKillAppTimeout"
4. Right click and select "Modify"
5. Change the value to "1000"
Click "OK"
6. Now select "HungAppTimeout"
7. Right click and select "Modify"
8. Change the value to "1000"
Click "OK"
