How To Extract File(s) From A Compressed Folder Using 7-Zip

Sometimes we will encounter a compressed or zipped file. Be it cab, exe, gz, iso, 7z,  rar, tar, or many others. These files are compressed to save disk space. We must first decompress these files to run and view them.

One of my favorite programs to achieve this is 7-Zip. Once downloaded and installed, the compressed file should have a black and white '7z' for the icon. This means the program 7-Zip has associated itself with the file extension of the compressed file.

DOWNLOAD

1)

Right-click on the file/folder that needs to be decompressed and choose 7-Zip.

2)
Click Open Archive to view it's contents you want to extract.

3)
Choose what to extract and click Extract.

4)
Define a location for the extracted content and click OK

There you have it. The compressed data is now decompressed and ready for normal use.
